Inflation adjusted rate different between colleagues

Inflation adjusted rate different between colleagues

I recently asked for a substantial base salary raise connected to my promotion from junior to mid developer. I received instead an insignificant 0.6% raise, which I was told to be the inflation adjusted rate.

I just discovered that a teammate also got what he was told was the inflation rate, except it was 2% for them.

How should I handle this? I believe that this is not a mistake (as my manager at the time later told me, I was penalized due to an optics issue). I am very tempted to point this to my new manager, framing it as a request for clarification. But I am afraid this might penalize me further.

Unfortunately, that is quite typical company behavior: take it or leave it. If your alternatives are strong, then you can fight for your right. If not, ask a question and hope for the best.

Of course, you may ask some specific clarifications, e.g., where the 0.6% came from. Was it taken from a trusted source (e.g., government site), or it was calculated - how?
